We should be greatful that term limits did not become effective. There are Senators in the US Senate who were there when the Reagan tax cuts were enacted in the early 80s. It became a grab bag for special interests with every kind of special interest tax break you could imagine. There is a danger of that happening again.

he tries to hide the fact by reaching out to the liberal and moderate Democrats.
This is a continuation of the practice begun in Texas when he was governor. The party strategists send him out to go "Ah Shuks", and talk about huntin and fishin while they plan the legislature. It's a way to keep him occupied so that W doesn't interfere with their activities.
