Rande, I take the opposite view, and went short the NDX today at my 2525 pivot number. Of course, this is a trade I usually only keep for a few hours, and I play it long as much as I do short. Must keep $$ working..
How the market reacts to the CSCO numbers tonite will set a short term tone for the indexes, Imo.

market has some resistance at 2700 area, would not surprise me at all to see csco just reiterate what theyve already said, maybe not get thier normal one penny whisper number, and market rally on whatever they say because it removes one thing to worry about, i would be surprised if they surprised us with anything more negative than what people are already worried about, if so, that should help us pop through 2700 and go back and challenge 2900-3000, going to stay cautious till we break and hold 2700, but the table is being set to "climb the wall of worry", if bond yields start to rise, will be good sign naz is ready to go
fibre optics also need to rally, cant see a real strong naz without the fibre optic plays participating,
so whats holding scmr down?

The current "hat trick" obviously is CSCO

This "earnings horse" has been beaten to death not necessarily in price per say but in the way the "CSCO future" has been used to "manipulate?" techs as a whole.

How techs react into the close today may show the hand of big money (not liking present QQQ and $COMPX action at all), but iam not buying as there will be plenty of action to be had post earnings no matter the outcome.

As companies associated with CSCO supply chain are for the most part in a downtrend or pummled, may see some nice swing there given CSCO numbers and guidance impress.
