The economy was hardly in a depression in 1981, and in fact Carter had proposed a balanced budget before he was defeated.<<<

There may not have been a recession in SV in 1981 but the housing industry was decimated by 13% plus interest rates.

To be fair and unbiased, you should also mention that over 50% of our deficit was accumulated in the 90's. Funny how you seem to ignore trival facts like that.
