CSCO not a member of DJI. While I would like to see some down activity, hence better valuations, I suspect we will have our celebration snatched away yet again.

Whose Money Are You Suggesting Be Used To Give Greenie A Chance

I don't think the Federal government has begun direct intervention is the stock market yet.

That means whoever uses money to buy stocks is risking their capital, even if the actual money being used is "borrowed" from the Fed.

It seems very possible that prudent investors, institutional or individual, may conclude that an investment in stock now does not have a sufficient probability of a positive return given the risk of loss.

As we have seen institutional investors have been exiting the market since last April. The controlled descent is prompted by the fact that the institutions doing the distribution stand to gain the longer they protract the decline.

Until now. Most major players concluded that they would stand to maximize the amount they receive by cooperating with the controlled distribution, rather than just selling all they have sooner, when they know they would receive a higher price, rather than later.

The nature of the business is such that, all things being equal, you do not want to piss off the competitors since generating revenue requires collaboration.

In such a Cartel arrangement however the members who stand to gain the most by fostering the Cartel are the largest members.

Over the last six months an increasing number of players have decided to cash out "now". The hedge funds were able to do it and acknowledge they were doing it. Smaller investment banks and investment managers concluded that the competitive advantage of having more capital offset the negative "karma" associated with cutting and run.

The way that Bankruptcy is said to occur is "slowly and then quickly". I think that that is the way a major market price realignment occurs as well.

You speak about giving Greenie a chance. Everyone is more than willing to give him a chance. Nobody wants a crash. Furthermore, a crash never happens if something can be done to prevent it. Never the less they do happen.

Just don't expect enlightened self interest to become altruism.
