Agreed. Milken revolutionized the finance industry and basically help America fund the early pre-emergent telecom industry. Everyone of Milken's high yield bonds at 18% annum paid off in full. Not a one defaulted. Those would have been darn good investments. The term junk bond didn't crop up until others got into the act, and started doing lower quality deals. Junk bond investments were blamed for the savings and loan failures. The government's bailing out of the savings and loans was a mistake. Many of the mandated liquidation sales were at rock bottom prices, and the continued selling depressed the loses more. Had the savings and loans been allowed to hold All the high yield bonds underwritten by Milken's firm out of Beverly Hills, they would have survived, since every last one of them would have paid in full upon maturit.

He certainly was the falll guy
