( BW)(LA-PRESIDEO) DrFirst.com Selects Presideo to Enhance
Security for ASP Services; Advanced trust services and physician
credentialing are keys to healthcare application integration security

Business/Technology Editors

NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2001--HIMSS Conference-- DrFirst.com, Inc.,
a leading Application Service Provider for physician practices and hospitals, announced
the selection of Presideo, Inc., a leading Internet infrastructure services company
specializing in end-to-end digital identity management, for advanced security services.
DrFirst.com provides medical software applications, including EMR and Rcopia, its
electronic prescription management system, to physicians, dentists, hospitals, and other
healthcare organizations on an Application Service Provider (ASP) basis. The platform
for DrFirst's products and services is its Secure Message Exchange network, which allows
its members to communicate securely within their practices as well as with hospitals and
business partners outside their practices.
Under the terms of the agreement, DrFirst.com will incorporate Presideo's Trusted
Space(TM) with their secure network thereby enhancing DrFirst's existing, stringent
security. The integration of Presideo's Internet Trust Services will provide an advanced
process for authenticating users and integrating their clearance into multiple applications
enabling the protection of information stored electronically and/or exchanged over the
Internet.
"With the finalization of HIPAA on the horizon we are very aware of the implications of
tighter security standards for physician offices. Our first and foremost concern is to
consistently offer our customers the newest and most relevant technologies, and our
partnership with Presideo will be a catalyst to securely move key business functions
online," stated James Chen, CEO and Chairman of DrFirst.com.
Presideo's suite of Internet trust services performs a series of processes that allows
users to safely access confidential information and conduct secure online transactions.
DrFirst chose Presideo's flexible authentication process as a first stage security measure
prior to allowing access to confidential information. Using multi-level security
arrangements DrFirsts' client physician practices are ensured that the information and
transactions transmitted across its virtual private network (VPN) are secure. Federal
mandates such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) are
accelerating the demand by physician practices for advanced security measures for online
transactions and information exchange.
"The emerging e-business environment demands a new approach to digital security,"
explains Sheila Schweitzer, Chief Executive Officer for Presideo. "Enabling trusted
transactions is a critical component of the infrastructure needed for healthcare to fully
leverage the Internet. We are pleased to have been selected by DrFirst.com to deliver a
scalable, flexible trust infrastructure."
