Bobby- To a certain extent yes...but the Fed can change the overall amount of funds available (total amount of liquidity)...in other words, all things being equal (fear/greed), if the Fed injects liquidity, the market will likely go either a little/some/a lot higher....(or at least not go down as much)

I do agree...that if the fear is great enough, no amount of "raising the liquidity" by the Fed will help...but the fear needs to get really great for that to happen......maybe we'll get there this time...who knows..

There is likely some curve (not a straight-line) that represents this relationship, but I'm not smart enough to draw it...
