Pat, as usual your post is right on. I have been making these points for the past two years here on the CSCO board to try inform that for CSCO to jump into the Carrier market is just not going to be the slam dunk most data guys expected for host of reasons......but i guess it takes time for certain inevitabilities to filter down to reality and the fact that CSCO was growing their top line on enterprise & selling routers to ISP's/Carriers also tended to mask the problems they were having cracking the carrier market.

Considering the $$ spent in the past few years, I would like someone to show their RETURN on these investments in terms of penetration into the carrier market (aside from selling routers where they were always dominant anyway -- until JNPR came along that is)
