IBM Announces New ThinkPad and NetVista Models; New Notebooks and Desktops Designed as Basic Building Blocks for e-business

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 2001--IBM today announced new notebooks and desktops designed to provide customers with simple answers to basic problems: how to obtain easy-to-use, Internet-focused tools with the latest core PC technologies, and how to locate reliable service and support.

The new ThinkPad notebooks and NetVista personal systems leverage the breadth of IBM to solve these problems and others faced by individuals, small businesses, and large organizations. They enable customers to easily transition data and applications from old PCs to new ones, ensure new PCs are equipped for fundamental changes in e-business structures and processes, make PCs easily manageable by technology professionals, and provide leasing options. And the new models feature some of IBM's most affordable prices to date.

"These new PCs from IBM are representative of the company's commitment to designing versatile systems that fulfill the needs of both individuals and organizations," says Bob Sutherland, an analyst with Technology Business Research. "IBM's tools, solutions and support offerings enhance the computing experience and simplify the demands of the fast changing e-business environment."
