Paul, I really think that NDX channel got wasted this morning. Recall than the Jan 3 uptrend line was broken last Friday, but I posted you a chart showing a lower line parallel to the top that had not yet broken. We are under it now. As for COMPX, all of today's action is under the lower line of its channel and most of it under the old Sep downtrend line as well.

PAUL: >>>>it would look like a classically bullish picture

Would it not be prudent to take the latest news into account? It seems to me that the market(NASDAQ) and graphs prior to today contain news that anticipated that CISCO would post earnings with what Wall Street wanted and give an encouraging outlook going forward but what I heard from the CC was a cautious and guarded statement regarding what to expect for at least the next two quarters -- growth lower than expected but acceptable assuming no surprises forthcoming. So the question is, will the NASDAQ sell off while the money goes elsewhere and waits for things to turn around or will the market hold and be satisfied with side ways movement for a few quarters? CISCO is not alone in the boat looking for the next few quarters to be soft. Is not CISCO some sort of a weather vane? Many of these hi-tech businesses are dependent on one another. If buying for infrastructure has come to an abrupt halt, then it would seem it ought to be felt from chip suppliers to manufacturers. If that is the case, then would it not be hard to be bullish and expect 2600 will hold on the NASDAQ? HOPE it does but FEAR it might not.

The techs could be in big trouble for the next 6 months or so. Will others report sentiments similar to CISCO? Can liquidity and rate cuts short circuit the slow down soon enough?

What do you see ahead for the semiconductors? Are they at bottom or may they continue to slide? Don usually has a good feel for this. What do you you think, Don?

Just posting some thoughts and looking for thread discussion/replies that would help shed some light on the current situation.

Thanks all. GH
