I don't think the move is NTAP-specific; the whole sector is down big-time (sigh...). See:

<<It sure is surprising to see it down almost 10% this morning.

First...you also referance to the good ole days when we would run up to earnings......

The fact that these aren't the good ole days is exactly why this downward move towards earnings is not surprising in the least. lets take a long look around.......how many companies sold off after earnings versus those that saw a nice upward move that was sustained? Not too many.......I would think there are alot of longs that are just too damned scared to hold into earnings....they have seen what happens to most companies after earnings and are therfor getting out now...or perhaps folks are shorting ntap going into earnings with the same thoughts as above....most stocks are going down after reporting.... Add in the fact that the PE is still very high, the FUD is running rampant, and it is no surprise she is coming down. The fools will be those ( maybe even me ) that don;t grab some while it's down for the long haul.....personally, I may be a fool and miss it, but I will wait until after earnings and/or she stops falling ( downward trend broken, either basing or upward mo on chart ). One thing about ntap....they could come in and blow out the numbers....they could also give very positive future guidance....and I sure hope they do, because the street is watching very closely. Should NTAPproove she is worth the high valuation, the street will give her her due and up she will go...if there is the slightest question about growth, revenue, competition, economic slowdown and etc....and if the street perceives she is still too richly valued, she has a good chance of breaking to the downside........

With all that negative hogwash aside....I love the company....always have, but I have learned the differance between loving a company and loving it's stock....I do want NTAP stock, but am unwilling to take the chance to buy at this point in time, prior to earnings....because of this, I have little doubt that you longs will be very happy...just because I didn't buy, you can almost guarantee good numbers and a run back to $60's <ggg>

Good luck to all longs
