Bob Marley Got his Star

Bob Marley just received his long awaited star on the Hollywood Walk
of Fame Tuesday Feb. 6 on his 56th birthday. The reggae singer's late
wife, Rita Marley and his son Ky-Mani Marley were there in
attendance. His star is right next to Earth Wind and Fire's star,
right off of Hollywood Boulevard.

Songwriters Hall To Honor Clapton, Parton, Sting, Willie

Eric Clapton, Dolly Parton, Sting, Paul Williams, and Willie Nelson
will be the next inductees into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF).
Billy Joel will also receive the Johnny Mercer Award, named after the
organization's founder, at the 32nd annual awards ceremony to be held
June 14 at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers.

Peer Music president/CEO Ralph Peer II will get the Abe Olman
Publishing Award, and late composer Leo Friedman's "Let Me Call You
Sweetheart" is to be named winner of the Towering Song Award.

The 2000 class of SOHF inductees was made up of James Brown, Neil
Diamond, James Taylor, Don Henley and Glenn Frey, Curtis Mayfield,
Brian Wilson, and Johnny Mathis. The ceremony featured an all star
rock'n'roll jam that included Brown, Paul McCartney, Aaron Neville,
Taylor, Carole King, Ben E. King, Diamond, Bobby Womack, Brian
McKnight, Phoebe Snow, Jill Sobule, Hanson, and Keely Smith.

Established in 1969 by Mercer, the SHOF will have a permanent home in
New York upon the expected fall completion of a new building at New
York University, Hall chairman Hal David announced last June.
