"So does this mean AMD is starting up a new line of embedded processors?"

Embedded isn't very definitive. It can encompass anything from a little 8 pin microcontroller that sells for a quarter, to a dedicated server farm. I doubt if the SFF (small form factor, if it will exist) will be the embedded stuff I use, but it could be used for what TechieGuy(sp?) does. I would suspect that this device would go into a BGA and be intended for net appliances and such. Some sort of sealed, never upgraded type of thing. I suspect that it will still need a fan, I have gone over likely characteristics and I don't see how it can avoid it.

But if the announcement of the low-k dielectric is to be believed, at least Motorola plans to use the 130nm process for low power applications. If the SFF market proves to be big enough we might see reasonably powerful, fanless systems next year.
