Hi Jerome, >Too many of these thread viewers
and posters seem to think that when July 1st, 2001 shows up , we can all say, "the second half of the year is here now AMAT can rally".
<

Most analysts, gurus and many company bigwigs say that, too.
"2nd half will be better".
But none of them were able to correctly predict ONE month ahead back in November. So it behooves us to be weary.
I put a small CSCO limit order in for just below 30. Will not chase the stock.

Gottfried

Jerome,
I am beginning to get the feeling that we are in fact reversing the psychological underpinning of this economic downturn. Junk bond market improved so money for capital expenditures for more questionable folks is more readily available. Home refinancing frees up cash. Bush has high popularity ratings so far. Lower rates and tax cuts should do the trick. And if nasdaq keeps heading south there is always the possibility of another interim rate cut. I forgot the dont fight the fed adage when interest rates were rising. I will not fight the fed now either. Mike

PS I think chambers reset expectations low yesterday so they would cetainly be met and probably exceeded if the above analysis is correct. Morgan will probably do the same so we may have an earnings problem here as well when amat announces.
