SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Despite the softening integrated-circuit market, Broadcom's CEO said Wednesday he does not expect to wind up in the same position as Cisco, which missed quarterly earnings on Tuesday. See full story.

"We are still seeing growth." Broadcom CEO Henry T. Nicholas told investors at the Banc of America Technology Week Conference.

He said the company continues to generate cash and has no need to access the public market, but he did say the company is not expecting the amount of growth given in previous estimates.

On a Jan. 24 conference call, Broadcom had said that it expected revenue to climb 22 to 23 percent sequentially.

Broadcom (BRCM: news, msgs) shares were off 11 percent, falling $9.75 to $82.75 in sympathy with Cisco. Shares of Cisco (CSCO: news, msgs) were off $5 to $30.75. <<<
