I would say of the thousands of posters on this site that you are the exception rather than rule. There are people that do use their real name as their alias - but again it is the exception and not the rule.

Of course, all the people that posted here today can feel free to post their identity and state. I would be willing to venture that you probably know a few posters that wouldn't want their employer to know their alias or their picture made public so that the could be identified.

Given the uproar over the subpeona issue I would think you would realize quite a few people don't want their information made public unnecessarily.
