I'm not debating whether or not a thread needs some degree of policing, but I do/did object to the apparent lack of "fairness"...e.g., some folks booted for using the S*it word, while 1000's of posts on the same thread with all sorts of trash talking...others with direct and ugly threats, veiled and otherwise sitting pretty, while someone calls someone else a moron and gets booted without warning. While SI has definitive terms of use, seems the interpretation of those terms have been wildly subject to interpretation.
