Both companies will provide storage system hardware, related software and support services mutually upon the request of their customers and depending on each case to promote to both sides' system integration business. Fujitsu disclosed that it will actively participate in efforts to the standardization activity for Storage Area Network (SAN) products. The major electronics maker also said it plans to use Compaq's next-generation virtual storage technology VersaStor, one of the candidates considered to be an industry standard, for its products related to its storage system, called Storplex. It will introduce Compaq's technology also to the GR series, a series of its storage system products, in the latter half of 2001. In addition, Fujitsu plans to make proposals more actively at the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), an industry standard group for storage and SAN products, to promote standardization of SAN products.
