Two I'm watching tomorrow.... AXTI which I mentioned all day long today in the room, as it held its gain all day - AXT (AXTI: news, msgs) beat fourth-quarter earnings expectations by 3 cents a share, compared with a survey of analysts polled by First Call/Thomson Financial. The company reported a profit of $4.6 million, or 20 cents a share, not including a one-time gain and a restructuring charge. This is a 108 percent increase over last year. Revenue jumped 82 percent, from $20.9 million to $38.2 million. For the first quarter, the company, which makes compound substrates for fiber optics, said it expects between 7 and 9 percent sequential revenue growth. For the full-year 2001, AXT anticipates growth between 55 and 60 percent. Shares of the Fremont, Calif.-based company closed up 75 cents at $32.75. ...and WGRD which I used to trade all the time and mention in the room until they warned last month and it tanked. That stock can really move! Hilarious, last month they warned and tonight they beat by a penny, I have been having a feeling some of these "warnings" have been overdone, like SRNA the other day - .25 expectations, they "warned" they would be earning .24 - .25. HUH? The stock is now back where it was after only two days and the people who bothered to read the warning and buy instead of dumping made out like a bandit - to the tune of about 7 points! So many of these warnings lately seem overdone, maybe in in order to make things look better the next quarter and to alleviate the stress of the expectations being too high to start with... Or maybe so insiders could load the boat when it tanked and then cash in on an "upside" (LOL) surprise. Watchguard Technologies (WGRD: news, msgs) reported better-than-expected earnings by a penny a share. LOLThe Seattle-based Internet security company reported a profit of $949,000, or 3 cents a share.
