07:02 ET Asian Markets : Nikkei -1.7%, Hang Seng -0.87% -- The Nikkei fell to a new 27-month low with losses paced by Matsushita Communication after it cut its profit forecast. TDK Corp lowered its earnings forecast 17% after the close. The Korean Kospi rose 2.7% led by brokerages on the hope that today's rate cut will boost income. Hong Kong markets fell after Bank East Asia Ltd said profit rose a lower than expected 14.5% in H2/00 so leading to weakness in the bank sector. Telecom and computer related stocks fell in line with Nasdaq.
