LOF: So tell me why is NTAP doing so well. 99% of all quality tech stocks got thrown out with the bath water. But many of them are attempting to build a base or are showing some bottoming action. NTAP keeps making lower lows with continuous downside gap formations. There are many investors who are so underwater in NTAP that they're drowning.

Now don't get me wrong. I have a slight long position in NTAP which I entered into yesterday trying to be a bottom picker. Thank goodness I didn't buy in the 80's, 90's or higher. Because for those folks NTAP would have to become a $30B market cap company again just to break even. And with NTAP expected to earn .58 in fiscal 2002, that ain't gonna happen for quite awhile unless we go back to 1999 stock price action and valuation. The question I have is the NTAP knife still falling.

In conclusion, why I mentioned GSPN as an example for an investment idea is that I believe that in these market conditions, the probability of a $2.5B market cap company becoming a $4-5B market cap company is greater than the probability of NTAP becoming a $25-30B market cap company. Of course the individual company has to perform and execute. But there are many other examples besides GSPN. Therefore, I believe midcaps and selected small caps offer potential greater rewards. I only used GSPN as a reference for discussion sake. Good luck to all of us tomorrow into the earnings report.
