Amazon means a female horse ridding warrior. The name came from a legend created by the first explorers that were going into the jungle. Amazon is the name of, both, the jungle and the river.

Just an addendum: Daniel K. Ludwig Jari Project was sold last March by the symbolic price of 1 dolar.

Bezos named it Amazon because it not only is the longest river, it also has the most tributaries. Tributaries are like branches on a tree.
And as we all know Bezos branched out from books alone.
Now, I'm a proud owner of Amzn junk bonds I will not allow anyone on this thread to make any negative comments on Amazon anymore.
Such behavior will result in getting the deadly hook.;-)
