First, in response to your questions, yes there is a learning curve. . .yes, I understand resistance to change. . .which is why we have developed a Member guide which takes you step by step. . . literally hundreds of pages of HELP, should you need quick answers. . . and for those who can't or won't read Help pages. . . .we've set up an orientation board for answering specific questions concerning navigation, etc. Many will not need any of the above! Yes, it is well worth the effort or I would have gone with a clone of older-style threaded messaging systems which everyone already knows. . .I felt we deserved better. . . yes, I've thought of. . well, most everything over the past 2 years . . and no, there is no lurking by non-members. And no, I don't feel it benefits the community. In an effort to resist Wall Street peeking over our shoulders all the time. . . there will not be lurking by the general public. This is a big departure from Yahoo, Raging Bull, SiliconInvestor, Clearstation, Motley Fool and CNBC where unregistered lurkers may not only view all posts, all the time, but may search them in any manner of their choosing. So not only will there be no lurking by non-members, there is a way for all members to see which members have read a board in a given day, who is currently logged-on to a given board, even how many times a particular post has been read. If you see your "buddy" is logged-on, you may invite him/her to a particular chat room, by either posting, sending an instant email or if all else fails, paging them [if they are set to receive pages]. . . usually reserved for broadcast pages by board managers of important time-sensitive information. . . so the place is all about communication. . . but it is also all about privacy. I believe the majority of serious Individual Investors wish to discuss the market outside the prying eyes of Wall Street. . . which currently uses sophisticated algorithms to virtually "read" all our posts. . . dumping the consensus of opinion into a statistics program, which gives them a real-time view into the minds of the Individual Investors. Those aren't my words. . . just passing along what has been told to us by some of the creators of that very software. Everyone here has experienced more times than they wish to remember. . . times when the very second a stock was posted here or on momentum play boards, it was slammed by short-sellers . . . and instantly dropped several points. If that organized play against us was over one stock, how much more do they value our collective opinions on where "we think" the market is headed? It is simply a natural progression toward what can become a better-informed and closer-knit community. . .I am simply taking things to the next level. That is all. If at first it is a bit harder to get, then it is a bit harder to get. So what? This is the type of messaging system in place at major corporations and colleges around the world. You might even use such a system at your work. Millions use this type of system happily. It is the next wave in messaging. That's all. And I assure you there is nothing to fear. Rande Is
