Building ASP Offering Around New iBaan Family of Internet-Enabled Solutions

PARIS, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Bull, Europe's leading integrator of iBaan ERP, has extended its Strategic Alliance with Baan to launch a new ASP initiative based on Baan's new iBaan suite of Web-enabled solutions. iBaan is Baan's next generation suite of information, integration, and collaborative commerce software. Bull will work with Baan to support the delivery and implementation of the new iBaan products with a comprehensive ASP service. This will enable discrete manufacturing organisations to further reduce the cost of ownership of implementing iBaan -- the industry's most comprehensive Internet-enabled enterprise and value chain collaboration solutions.

"With its technology leadership and strengths in the manufacturing market, Baan is ideally positioned to support the development of next generation Web- enabled solutions with its new iBaan suite - addressing manufacturers demands for tighter integration and full visibility across their entire supply chain. Bull is the leading European systems integrator for Baan solutions, and we look forward to delivering the new iBaan portfolio throughout the European manufacturing industry," commented Peter Turnham, Director, Manufacturing Logistics & Distribution at Bull.

"Although the majority of Web-based solutions are hosted by the solution providers, we firmly believe that the future is in renting access from a provider who looks after all elements of this service and crucially, reduces the overall cost of ownership. By building our ASP offering around iBaan we can achieve reduced cost of ownership across the whole enterprise spectrum, while delivering powerful business benefits thanks to new iBaan information portal and collaboration technology," he continued.

"Bull's relationship with Baan stretches back over ten years with now over 300 customers signed up -- 79 in the last year alone, our most successful year for the Alliance," added Henk de Ruiter, Vice-President of Marketing and Alliances, Baan. "This new ASP initiative will build on this success and will provide significant support for our new generation iBaan suite."

Baan is a strategic vendor for Bull's ERP integration activity and manufacturing industry focus. Bull is a Baan Service vendor and reseller throughout Europe, and has also worked closely with Baan to develop the distribution and warehousing modules for Baan's ERP solution. A long-term technology provider, Bull has developed in-depth expertise in Baan's products -- its International Competence Centre provides sizing and architecture services to integrators. Under the 'We Commit' offer, Bull is to provide guarantees on the operational performance of Baan solutions. Bull recently provided expertise and consulting in the porting of iBaan Supply Chain Planner to the Intel(R) Itanium(TM) architecture under Windows 2000.
