Semi OT -- commoditization

Jeez, with all the derogatory talk on SI about commoditization of this and that, you'd think commodities weren't worth anything. Even if the "commoditization" talk were true, and I doubt it is, because of so many cost, service, and other countervailing factors that many people frankly don't take the time to understand or appreciate -- didn't Hillary make a couple bucks on commodities? Isn't there a market for commodities, one where people make a handsome living?

I don't play the "real" commodities, but it sure seems there are enough who do and enough money that does that proves that there's something there, even if one were to accept the argument that virtually everything is a commodity.

And, the next time you talk to somebody who makes that argument, ask him/her whether s/he stays at the Westin or the Red Roof Inn on business trips. After all, a hotel bed is just a commodity, isn't it?<g>
