>> If you sell calls, how do you decide what call to sell? One month out and one strike point higher?

I try to sell on a spike, and set the strike about 5% otm. Since I'm covering with core positions, the intent is to not get called, but rather to keep the stock and the premium. But if I do get called, I will have a great return for a short period of time.

>> Do you agree that by next Friday most of the bad news will be baked into the major players like JDSU, QCOM, AMCC? In other words - we are heading into a sort of flat market that is waiting for a stimulus for some time?

That's the way I see it, but I'm told the techs are very oversold and that there is a good chance we will have some random technical rallies. I'll try to be patient and wait for one of these spikes before I write March series calls.

Btw, I am not an options expert, and there are plenty of folks around here who will be happy to confirm that assessment. I'd suggest you get opinions from some of the specialists in derivative strategies.
