Doug : The mining industry in SA has had to face far more serious problems than work stoppage brought about by Uncle Bill. It's a nice thought but it can't and won't happen.

If the workers stop work they will be fired. Simple. Already so many have lost their jobs because of mine closures that those who remain will cling to their jobs like what-have-you to toilet paper. Furthermore, their wages are geared to productivity --- if they "go slow", they lose money. In addition, many of the old mines which Anglogold has sold have been bought by "black empowerment" groups. The Kebbles are not the only vultures on the block looking to pick up marginal properties.

Don't forget that SA has been, and still is, in the throes of a socialist/Africanist revolution. All permutations of trouble have been anticipated or have occurred. I keep telling the folks on this forum that the SA mining industry, especially Anglo, is VERY professional and very ruthless. They will stop at nothing to achieve their ends --- even war.

IMO, Uncle Bill's best shot is if the ANC take him seriously --- and they just might. It's their big tactic to blame the misfortunes of Africa on the greed and malice of the whites and the colonial powers. Which is much what Uncle Bill is doing with his gold conspiracy. There is a convergence of thought. The ANC won't close the mines. They will go to UNO, Dubya or wherever and try to "blackmail" someone (no pun intended) with black empowerment, human rights and all the rest of that jazz. Don't forget, in terms of the New World Order, white politicians have to kiss black ass.
