When that was originally written that Canadian had never seen the Clinton-Gore regime. The original piece is at least 25 years old and it was not entirely updated, "Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?". The French especially like Clinton for the same reason they profess to like Jerry Lewis, because Clinton demeaned US and made them feel very much superior. That was Clinton's primary international appeal - aside from playing Santa Claus with taxpayer money. Clinton made others, especially US enemies, but even "friends", feel better about themselves because he brought the US down to his level. At least from their view.
