Last time I checked, OEMs aren't screaming at Intel to move away from IA-64 like they did with RDRAM. In fact, they continue forming long-term plans for IA-64 back-end servers.

Also, unlike RDRAM where Intel was the only one (not counting Sony and the Alpha EV7 team) designing RDRAM-based chipsets, there are several third-parties designing IA-64 chipsets, including IBM, HP, Unisys, Bull, NEC, and even ServerWorks.
