Essentially as of Jan 15th, more than 4M shares had been sold short with over 3 days to cover. Given the price action since mid January, I suspect that the actual shares short was probably much higher as of yesterday. Given the growth of about 700,000 shares a month short interest since November, it's quite possible that there's about 5M shares short and a massive squeeze underway. Can't think of a nicer group of people forced to buy back those shares as they receive margin calls. :-) Ian.
