Lehman Brothers Forecasts No Economic Growth for Q1
February 8, 2001 (SEOUL) -- Regarding Korea's economic growth, Lehman Brothers forecasted that the economy will experience a hard landing during the first quarter of the year with 0 percent growth, but recover to 7 percent in 2002.

The international investment banking firm added that the Korean economy will suffer an unemployment rate of 5 percent due to corporate and financial restructuring, while the local bourse will not see visible growth during the first half of the year.

However, if the nation continues to maintain restructuring efforts, Korea will likely see a rise in foreign direct investments and enjoy recovered investor sentiment during the fourth quarter of the year, which will trigger visible economic growth in 2002.
