I like it! I doubt if the employees do. If they got laid off there would be un-employment benefits. This way there are the same number of obligations to manage on a reduced paycheck, with the possibility of being laid off anyway if the second half recovery fails to show up.

Unlike most dot com companies, semiconductor equipment companies have plenty of experience dealing with the effects of slowdowns, and are well-positioned to do so.
