I'm watching greenfield carriers as one metric for strength in FO. They're the ones putting pressure on the incumbents to upgrade:

Global Crossing CEO: Swift Pact To Yield $300 Million Rev
Dow Jones Newswires

NEW YORK -- Global Crossing Ltd. (GX) expects at least $300 million in revenue from a deal to operate an Internet protocol network for Swift, said Thomas Casey, vice chairman and chief executive in a CNBC interview Thursday.

He explained that Swift is the messenging network for the financial services industry, connecting 7,000 banks in over 190 countries.

Global Crossing, of Beverly Hills, Calif., plan to provide integrated telecommunications systems over a 100,000-mile underwater fiber optic cable network that is now 85% complete.

With the company's stock down about 62% on the year, the Swift deal is a, "very big win for us," Casey said. Global Crossing expects to increase shareholder value with the deal.

"Global Crossing is going to become the network that will enable that organization and those banks to communicate worldwide," Casey said.

Despite Global Crossing's expectation that growth will be 35% for the year in adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, Wall Street analysts only gave them a 10 to 11 multiple.

Casey could not explain the analysts' projection.

"Our guidance this year, released two weeks ago, said that we said we would be at $7.1 billion or $7.2 billion in cash revenue and over $2.1 billion in adjusted Ebitda. Those are very aggressive growth rates."
