You can manipulate data however you wish. Using 80 years will give you about 3%. A quick look at the following link will allow you to figure it for different periods. I can easily figure for different time lengths to move data higher than 3%. Given the changes in the economy, I'd rather use more up to date data than go back to 1921. For example, in the last 30 years, the inflation rate has moved closer to 5%, but over the last 20 years, the rate has been closer to 3%.knc
