In the inflation of the 70's/early 80's, investments in energy, gold, and real estate worked very well.

If history has taught me anything, it has taught me that something different will work well if the current inflation turns excessive.

Depends on your investment goals. Of course fixed income investments in government securities of short maturities like in the 1970s and early 1980s would have been a good place to park cash. In inflationary environments fixed assets are often good investments. Antiques, gold and silver coins, real estate are examples of investments that are a good store of value and will likely move up in value with the price level because demand for them is price inelastic. Remember that liquidity is always a concern. Fixed assets are much less liquid than government securities.
