I did go to that site and read through it. I have to admit that a couple of things that were instructed to do gave me the spooks because I would get warnings to the effect of "don't change these settings unless you really know what your doing" and since I really don't know what I'm doing I left things alone!

I have a question:

My PC (Win 98 SE) gets hung up when Shutting Down or going on Standby, but only on occasion (maybe 5-10% of the time). Since it doesn't happen every time, I can't really do the Troubleshooter, because I wouldn't really know if each step had worked or not. Should I just go straight to the Microsoft patch?
