Viv, not just e-mail. Every time we load a new screen from a site we visit on the net the associated server logs an entry. Not only that, the server can also determine the referring page (i.e. if you clicked on a link in a message here on SI the server on that site would know as such). Unfortunately Jim was not surfing the net at an opportune time. He did call the local cable company to see if they perhaps kept such records, but (alas for Jim, but phew for those of us who don't want our channel flipping recorded!), no, they don't keep such records. - Jeff
