long, mining stock prices and POG are in a disconnect. Notice the low volume selloffs? That is easily made up on any buying interest. These are the times investors dream of, usually after the bull run. IMO take advantage of the nonsense in perceived weakness, I am.

BTW, the reason Harmony bought puts was as part of the agreement with banks to get funding for their recent acquisitions. The banks demanded that protection.

BTW2, are you telling me gold sucks? LOL

<If the increased hedging of Anglo & freshly begun hedging of Harmony do not effect POG, why has it gone down since the announcements? >

I don't know about Anglo new hedges, but Harmony covered 6 months of production with put options. They have not sold forward. The counterpart to their deal probably remain naked given the current trade.

So I don't see how this could have affect gold prices... except may be for a small psy effect.

Sure, I am wrong several times per day.

> You have often stated the only thing that matters is supply of & demand for actual physical gold - correct?

Not really, it is the primary factor for me and appears to be the primary factor affecting the market, but there are many other factors that have affected gold in the past and will again in the future. I just can not grasp the more esoteric theories.

They have just begun, so the market is reacting, anticipating, etc.. I do not think that one could strongly correlate the drop in gold recently to only one or two stories, it's a combined effect.
