Nasdaq To Trade 15 Stocks In Decimals Starting March 12

NEW YORK -- The Nasdaq Stock Market has selected the 15 stocks that will begin trading in dollars and cents on March 12, the first phase of Nasdaq's transition to quoting prices for all stocks in decimals instead of fractions.

The stocks are Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (BRCD); Commerce One Inc. (CMRC); Copper Mountain Networks Inc. (CMTN); Cree Inc. (CREE); Extreme Networks Inc. (EXTR); Inktomi Corp. (INKT); Integrated Device Technology Inc. (IDTI); Micromuse Inc. (MUSE); Newport Corp. (NEWP); Openwave Systems Inc. (OPWV); Rambus Inc. (RMBS); Redback Networks Inc. (RBAK); Research In Motion Ltd. (RIMM); VerticalNet Inc. (VERT); and Coastal Caribbean Oil & Minerals Ltd. (COCBF). Coastal Caribbean, which trades on the over-the-counter bulletin-board, is also listed on the Boston Stock Exchange under the symbol CCO.

The stocks will trade in increments as small as a penny, leaving behind the increment of one-sixteenth of a dollar, or 6.25 cents, that has been common for many stocks.

The New York Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange have already moved their stocks to decimal quotes.

Nasdaq will complete the shift in three steps. In the second phase, which will begin on March 26, Nasdaq will change about 150 additional stocks to decimals. The transition is expected to be completed on April 9, the Securities and Exchange Commission's deadline for implementing decimalization.
