Some oldtimers I like to listen to are Miles Davis, Lester Young, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Roy Eldridge, Oran Page just to name a few. Some new ones are Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joshua Redman, Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, Charlie Parker

It really depends on the mood. People who don't listen to Jazz or Blues can't tell the differences in the style from individual to individual.

Best blues in the world, ever, in my opinion, was and is by Peter Green - who had mental problems and wasn't always consistent. He backed Mayall, he formed the original Fleetwood Mac, and he is back now and fronting the Splinter Group. I will send you my list of his greatest hits after I think about it a bit.
