That guy's glass is really half full. The survey is just one of a multitude of indicators that are showing no fear. But he's right, its just one indicator. Secondly, the commercials are almost always early. He's wondering why the market hasn't cratered on this fact? How many folks even know what a COT report is?

well, i'm not relying on that single statistic for gauging sentiment. it is one of many. and the commercials went short right at the summer top, and the market (NAZ/S&P) HAS cratered since, has it not? again i want to point out that people make a big mistake when focusing solely on the nature of the commercial net short in interpreting the COTS. it is the OTHER side of this trade that is giving the warning signal. the biggest speculator long position of all time!
