DMC Stratex Networks Unveils Industry's First Single Radio Wireless Product
Delivering 311-Mbps Access Capacity

Altium 311 Sets Industry Benchmark by Doubling Wireless Access Capacity Delivered
by Today's Single Radios Without Doubling the Cost

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- DMC Stratex Networks (Nasdaq: STXN - news),
one of the world's foremost solutions providers for cellular applications and broadband
wireless access, today announced Altium(TM) 311, the industry's first wireless access product
combining ultra-high capacity and high bandwidth efficiency into a single radio platform for
linking users with more data, voice and video communications than ever before.

As an extension to the award-winning Altium 155-Mbps product line, Altium 311 provides
information transport at 311 Mbps for wireless 2xOC-3 and ATM transmission. DMC Stratex
Networks will unveil the Altium 311 publicly for the first time at the Broadband Wireless
World Forum 2001 in San Francisco, Feb. 19 - 21, in booth No. 418.

Released to address the demands for large data bandwidths over wireless networks to complement
fiber deployment, Altium 311 provides the wireless capacity that operators need to support
network infrastructure demands of 2.5 and 3rd Generation cellular networks. Altium 311 also
provides higher bandwidths for operators building fixed wireless access networks to backhaul
more information and offer more services to customers with all the flexibility, cost and
time-to-market advantages wireless has to offer.

While most competing systems can provide higher capacities only by duplicating radio hardware
and adding onto the existing installed equipment, Altium 311's high-capacity solution in a
single radio architecture reduces equipment cost and installation requirements.

``DMC Stratex Networks is a pioneer in the wireless industry by being the first to deliver a
multi-frequency, bandwidth-efficient SONET/SDH radio system two years ago, and Altium 311 is
a natural, yet significant, technological progression for us to help our customers avoid access
bottlenecks and meet ever-increasing access demands of their subscribers,'' said Sam Smookler,
DMC Stratex Networks president and CEO. ``Building on our product core competencies of the
broadest frequency coverage, the highest spectral efficiency, and superb manufacturability,
Altium 311 is the ideal product to provide ultra-high capacity backhaul for next-generation
cellular and fixed wireless access applications, as well as high-speed last mile connections.
It is the first release in a family of wireless solutions that will deliver ultra-high capacity
with fiber-like performance, up to 622 Mbps.''

Altium 311 is the only radio platform available supporting both super- efficient 128 QAM
modulation levels -- and now 256 QAM -- to enable the full 311-Mbps payload of information
to be transported in a single 50 MHz or 56 MHz radio frequency channel for U.S. and international
markets, respectively. It employs DMC Stratex Networks' new advanced wireless modem chip set,
and will be available in the 18, 23, 26, 28, and 38 GHz frequency bands, as well as the
soon-to-be-established 32 GHz band. Altium 311 provides synchronous broadband radio benefits
and fiber-level performance (better than 99.999% availability for an error rate <10(-13)).
It is the next development in the Altium family, a product line that remains unmatched in
the market even after two years of deliveries and more than 6,000 systems being deployed.

The Altium 311 radio is fully compatible with DMC Stratex Networks' ProVision(TM) network
management system. Similar to all DMC Stratex Networks products, Altium 311 is fully
compliant with applicable FCC, Bellcore, ITU and ETSI regulatory standards.

AVAILABILITY AND PRICING

Initial shipments will begin this Spring, with general availability planned for this Summer.
Pricing is dependent on frequency, range and configuration, but will be significantly less
than purchasing two 155-Mbps wireless OC-3 solutions.
