hi alex thanks for the input. so you're using tpf along with za, right? za has always impressed me as the firewall that does all the heavy lifting. by that i mean it is always the first to turn back an intrusion attempt. maybe that's because i have it set to show me alerts. but the other firewalls, though set at their highest, seem to remain relatively quiet when za is on duty. so, does tpf take the play away from za? is tpf the first to report scans and probes, etc? :) mark
