Did you ever hear about that great project they did in the San Juan Basin about 1964, where they enhanced Natural gas recovery by blowing up a nuke in the middle of a low-permeability formation??

I'm not a geology person -- I just know about Rentech by way of the alternative energy connection.

You didn't even need to ignite the gas to light up the room. I remember feeling the ground shake from that experiment designed by our nation's brightest scientists.

I take it the practice didn't catch on!

BTW, there's supposed to be about 2 1/2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas stranded in remote locations (half of all world-wide reserves).
