I will respect and defend anyone's right to believe in their own idea of a Savior or Messiah as long as they do not try to tell me that their beliefs or their words & scriptures are the only truths. If you say "I have a truth " , and wish to share it with me, then I will be happy to listen . If you wish to point out the specific blessings , positive events or ways your own life has been made more enriched by those truths , then there is some value added to our conversation. For I can then try to understand the tangibility of your claims made real in your own life. But if you say "I have the only truth", which is the truth of your Bible , then you have overstepped the civility boundries (maybe not intentionally) between human beings. You know that the "Scripture " you hold dear is the truth for you , for it is what you know and grew up surrrounded with , and naturally were drawn to as your life changed and you sought deeper answers. But this process of finding something missing in one's life , and the need to search more deeply is already known of , practised with deep devotion and written extensively about in other religions, like Hinduism and Buddhism that do not feel the need to come to your house and tell you that your beliefs are false. <g> They have their interpretation of Life, Suffering , Love and the Creator , and you have yours . Funny how God made his prescence known everywhere on Earth , thru many great Teachers, yet you think you are the only ones who have been shown they way... This is amazingly inconsiderate , even though you think you are doing "God's" work , you are wrong. And will always be wrong in this, no matter how your elders have interpreted the scripture and Gospels for you. I am sorry Santiago , but Christians must learn that their own beliefs of "God's Laws" , a divine redeemer in the form of a great Teacher, and a world of salvation , and a soul that can be reconnected to God, is not unique to them but rather a concept that has been present before them or your oldest prophets. This is complimentary in it's essence , and Buddhist and Hindu's are not at war with Christians per/se....they just wish to worship and seek "purity" and "truth" thru their own direct means , which you should try to understand before you condemn. (Have your friends and yourself take courses in comparitive religion , as a way to replace the urge to drink , perhaps seriously ) I'll always enjoy deeply when a Shalom makes posts of the most refined and spiritual passages from the scriptures, and will take their meanings into myself and be reminded of God's love. But any use of your scriptures in todays world to justify the violation of the rights and beliefs of others to seek their own salvation and worship their own God and Holy Teachers , I and many others of worth and means will resist , denounce and defend those who are assailed from Christians who think they have the right to do this. I see that you are in the " recovery from alcohol" area. It is a killer of souls and minds , yet so accepted in our society . The use of Alcohol has destroyed bodies, lives and probably led many leaders in the past to enter into violent wars and conflicts that led to the deaths of 1000's. I will not tell you to become a Buddhist or a Hindu , or that they are greater than Christianity , Islam , or Judaism but I would suggest to you that they are far far older . Buddha was known all throughout the world as the Savior and Bringer of light...and in those societies where it is the main system of belief , there is almost no trace of Alcoholism or great substance abuse. You might want to investigate it . And the same is true for Hinduism which produced many of the greatest saints in the 20th century , like Ghandi , who did greater miracles than Jesus did . But Hinduism and Buddhism are very much alive and not going away, so Christianity will just have to learn to adapt....and save themselves. Unless you really believe that men walk upon water....then I cannot really converse on some levels with you. then it is time to inform you that you are being farfetched and mistaken . You have found a truth that is Christianity , for that was how ou were raised and all you have known . It is no
