RE: As I'm sure you realize, Toshiba boosting production of Rambus memory has little to do with the P4, and a lot to do with the Sony Playstation2.

The Register seems to think that the 2 are not related:

theregister.co.uk

"Toshiba says it will triple production of Rambus DRAM memory chips in anticipation of demand for more powerful computers following the launch of the P4."

"Currently the Japanese company produces chips destined mainly for the PS2 consoles, so its plans to make more RDRAM chips represents something of a shift of focus."

GV, your knee-jerk reaction there was very much AMDroid-like. Infectious? I know you posted a retraction. Good time these days to be picking on all the big techs like Cisco. Maybe they should all take their bat and ball and go home and we'd see how fast we'd be living in the trees again.
