Here in PacBell land, where I have been looking at a half-repaired line now for close to 8 months, you do get the use of the phone over the same line, but you pay PacBell $10/mo to be your ISP. That's on top of $39/mo for the line, and, of course, you pay your phone bill, and taxes and acccess fees and long distance charges, and and and and.

All together, @$70/mo (not counting long distance).
