This has to be just about the most useless statistic I have seen. The economy is growing fast and the cold war is over. Who cares?


This is something that is very significant, and is the reason why we have a surplus. The federal spending has been between 17 and 22% of GDP for last 40 years. When you remove 3% GDP worth of spending, in a little more than 10 years, it is going to have a huge effect on the budget.
