If you recall, we also had a near 11% unemployment at the time the Reagan tax cuts were enacted. The low was around 5-5.5% by the time he left.

No doubt the Reagan addition of 1.4 million bureaucrats to government positions (183,000 of whom were federal bureaucrats) helped with reducing the unemployment rate during those 8 years despite the fact that he frequently boasted that he would trim government jobs.

And his employment creation rate for those years was a paltry 2.3% for all the give-aways, second lowest since 1960. The lowest was Bush with 0%.
