Re: "The P4 core cannot reach 2 GHz without 0.13 or something else like SOI "

Apparently, you are wrong.

According to Intel's current RoadMap - Courtesy of Tom Uberclockermeister - the existing Pentium 4 will scale to 2 GHz BEFORE the 0.13 micron version is introduced (at a speed >2 GHz !)

tomshardware.com

Q2/01 (May) Pentium 4 1.7 GHz

Q3/01 Pentium 4 2 GHz, this will be the highest clock speed reached by 'Willamette', the current Pentium 4 version for Socket423

Q4/01 Pentium 4 > 2 GHz with 512 kB L2-cache ('Northwood' core / Socket478)

Re: "Intel will lose some production output while they are switching over their fabs to 0.13 production for the P3. "

Au Contraire.

Intel's new fab D2C in Oregon is a 0.13 micron/Copper fab from start to finish - and Intel will be bringing up a second new 0.13 micron/Copper Fab in Chandler, AZ - for two 0.13 micron GigaFabs - over and above their existing 0.18 micron wafer fabs.
